Animated Philosophy
Q: My PC Isn't Working, The Screen Is Blank
  • While there are many reasons that this could be happening. There are a few things you can try.

Step 1: Ensure your PC and monitor have power to them.
Step 2: Press a button on your keyboard, and move your mouse
Step 3: Check your monitor video cable. At the back of your monitor, there is a power cable, and video cable. Make sure the video cable is plugged in on both ends.
Step 4: Press and hold the PC power button. This will shut down the PC hardware. This can tell you if the PC is in a hung state. Sometimes a PC will become non-responsive.

If none of these do anything, you likely have a bad monitor, or your video hardware is faulty. This is when you should get in touch with us, and set up a time to bring it in as there is likely some type of hardware failure.

Q: My PC is running REALLY slow...
  • There are a couple things you can do.

Step 1: Run your virus software, the system might be infected with software that is robbing system performance.
Step 2: Un-install software you don't use anymore. You can google "Remove Windows Programs" and find step by step instructions, or a video, for your version of windows.
Step 3: Make sure your PC can breath, if you have things against the case, remove those.

If non of this makes any difference it's likely something that needs to have a PC specialist look at. It could still be something simple, but it's time to let a professional take a look.

Q: Internet Is Down/Not Working
  • Step 1: Go to your Internet Modem, and router if you have one. Unplug both, then plug them back in. This is called "Power Cycling" and will usually solve the issue. If it happens a lot, then it might be time to replace the unit.
Step 2: Make sure your network cable is plugged in, if you use WiFi, make sure you're connected

If none of these work, or you can't even find your wireless network, it's time to bring it into a shop. In this case, bring your router if you have one. The modem can stay home.

Q: Whats a "Modem"
  • The modem is the device that supplies the internet to you. It's the device that would have been given to you by your internet service provider (ISP). This takes the internet signal from the ISP and converts it to a form you can plug your PC or router into.
